| When this glass goblet was brought for treatment it had been broken and reassembled. The adhesive was discoloured and unstable. The goblet was taken apart, reassembled and missing sections fabricated. All the pieces were reassembled and held together with small dots of sticky wax. A clear epoxy resin was then allowed to run into all the joins. The refractive index of the epoxy resin is similar to that of glass, which means that the break lines become almost invisible. |
